৮৯. আর যখন আল্লাহ্র পক্ষ থেকে তাদের নিকট কিতাব here (কুরআন) এলো, যা তাদের কাছে বিদ্যমান থাকা কিতাব (তাওরাত)-এর সত্যায়নকারী; যদিও এরপূর্বে তারা নিজেরা (সর্বশেষ যামানার নবী হযরত মুহাম্মদ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়া আলিহী ওয়াসাল্লাম এবং তাঁর উপর অবতীর্ণ কিতাব কুরআনের ওসিলায়) কাফেরদের বিরুদ্ধে বিজয় অর্জনের প্রার্থনা করতো, সুতরাং যখন তাদের নিকট সেই নবী (হযরত মুহাম্মদ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়া আলিহী ওয়াসাল্লাম নিজের প্রতি অবতীর্ণ কুরআনসহ) আগমন করলেন, যাঁকে তারা (পূর্ব থেকেই) চিনতো, তবুও তাঁকেই তারা প্রত্যাখ্যান করে বসলো। অতঃপর (এরূপ ইচ্ছাকৃত) প্রত্যাখ্যানকারীদের প্রতি আল্লাহ্র অভিসম্পাত।
৭৮. আর তাদের (অর্থাৎ ইহুদীদের) মাঝে কিছু নিরক্ষরও রয়েছে, যাদের (শোনাকথা ও মিথ্যা আশা ছাড়া) কিতাবের (অন্তর্নিহিত মর্মের ন্যূনতম) কোনো জ্ঞানই নেই, তারা কেবল মুখে মুখে পড়তে জানে ধারণা ও অনুমানে।
